How to Figure Out your Next Steps

home project next steps

Ever feel stuck or directionless?

Far too many times I have seen my clients struggling to put into words what they want. Or hesitant because they don’t know how far their money will take them. Or is what we’re thinking of doing the right choice?

I know how they feel because I’ve been there. I designed my own home a few years back, and trust me when I say this, an Architectural Designer designing their own home is like asking a genie to grant himself 3 wishes (and no, one can’t be for freedom). You’ve seen it all, which helps to some degree, but it’s also a burden because you want most of it.

At first, I was annoyed because I just wanted it done. I wanted to just snap my fingers and the plans to my dream home will appear.

But the message kept coming to the point of being unavoidable.

I felt stuck because I wasn’t clear on what I really wanted.

Sure, I knew I wanted a new home because we had the piece of land to build it on. Check. But if I was being pulled in multiple directions, will I ever get a clear vision and confidence to move forward?

So I had to do the inner work to uncover it and then take the steps to make it a reality.

But how do you get unstuck?

Here are two powerful steps to take:

The first: Go to the bank and find out how much money you have access to. Yes, find out that big, audacious number and then figure out what number you’re comfortable moving forward with.

The second: Get a clear picture of your project. This one is a real game-changer because without it you could flounder, cause tension and arguments with your significant other, lengthen the overall project timeline, and end up with a finished project you’re not thrilled about.

Over the past 15 years, and 200+ projects later, I’ve learned how to get homeowners inspired, confident and a clear vision for beginning their own new home or renovation project.

The same is possible for you.

To getting unstuck,

Chelsey
